Done with your interview? Do not know the result? Feeling butterflies in your stomach.

Done with your interview? Do not know the result? Feeling butterflies in your stomach? Well, you are not alone my friend. Everyone that goes through the gruelling interview process wants to know the outcome.

However often we eagerly look forward to receiving the feedback or response from the recruiter. In one of the survey, recruiter expressed their willingness to provide feedback but blamed lack of time for not doing so. Recruiters also advised that candidate should take a follow-up. Recruiters are more open to feedback when it is asked.

Therefore, this presents an excellent opportunity for candidates to get in touch with the recruiter and remind them about your candidature. However, you would wonder, how should we go about it? This is surely not taught in any schools or any course. I, therefore, present you what I see as most practical and to the point follow up email. This format has been validated by recruiters who are doing recruitment for ages.

So without further ado, here it goes. I give you 2 most practical emails that will give you another chance at that elusive opportunity. There is a word of caution at the end. Don't miss it.

Dear [Mr./Ms. Last Name]:

Thank you very much for your time today [or yesterday or the date] to interview me for the position of [job title]. I appreciate the opportunity to learn more about this job, to meet you and [names of other interviewers], and to see your facility [or offices, location, whatever is appropriate].

As we discussed, I have [months or years] of experience with [technology, tools, or qualification(s) you have that seemed most important in the interview]. With my background and experience, I believe that I could become a contributor to your team very quickly.

I am excited about this opportunity to join [organization name]. Please do not hesitate to email or call me if you have any questions or need any additional information.

I look forward to hearing from you [whenever they said they would be in touch or 10 days if they didn't give you a date].

Best regards,

[Your job title or tag line, like "eCommerce Customer Support Specialist"]

Dear [First name of the person]

I wanted to thank you for your time today to interview me for the position of [job title]. I was looking forward to this interaction from a long time and I am glad that, finally, it happened.

After this interview, I believe, that I understand your requirements and selection parameters better.

I am glad that I met at least some of the parameters and hence was called for the interview.

Irrespective of the result, I would be thankful to God for providing me with an opportunity to meet you in person and to exchange some thoughts.

In case you want to have a follow-up discussion, feel free to call me @ 123456789 or email me abc@xyz.com.

Word of caution: Do not write too many things in the email. Don't try to push the envelope too much otherwise you run the risk of appearing as a pushy person. Besides, one follow up always helps but more than that spoils the party.

This is the reason this email is succinct and to the point.
